ACA Applauds White House Efforts to Ensure Safe and Supportive Schools

Oct 04, 2016
New resources from the White House address the critical need for coordination among Federal, State, school, and community in creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Empowering students through comprehensive school-based mental health services, violence prevention, and training on trauma-informed practices has always been a priority for professional school counselors. School-based mental health counseling has significant positive effects on student well-being, and consequently, the community at large.

But It is also critical that we support legislation that seeks to prevent violence in and around schools, campus-based sexual assault, and bullying—through parental and community involvement.

This legislation must be coordinated with related Federal, State, school, and community efforts and resources.

The White House has made such resources available here.
