ACA in the News: Addressing the Psychological Toll on First Responders

David Kaplan, chief professional officer at American Counseling Association and a former first responder, spoke to ABC News about the realities faced by some emergency personnel in the aftermath of tragedy.
He cautioned that while all are trained to put their feelings aside in order to do their jobs and save lives, not all allow themselves to feel after they have done their jobs, so that they can process the experience and heal from it.
