In response to the tragic death of Robin Williams, Cirecie West-Olatunji, past president of the American Counseling Association, spoke to The Stir about how to identify signs of depression in a spouse.
"We need to change our perspective on mental health issues, and take depression as seriously as we would, say, a cancer diagnosis. This is a brain disorder that needs treatment. Definitely don't tell [your loved one] to just get over it,” West-Olatunji said.
