ACA Partners with She Should Run to Unveil Pathways to Public Leadership

Mar 02, 2021
ACA will partner with She Should Run for Advocacy Power Hour on Thursday, March 11 at 3pm EST to motivate ACA members to explore the possibility of public office by identifying and tackling the barriers to elected leadership.

In celebration of “Women’s History Month,” ACA is partnering with She Should Run for our next Advocacy Power Hour on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 3pm EST to encourage not only counselors, but female counselors, to run for office!

She Should Run is a nonpartisan nonprofit working to dramatically increase the number of women considering a run for public office. ACA is excited to partner with She Should Run to motivate our members to explore the possibility of public office by identifying and tackling the barriers to elected leadership.

Although the 117th Congress set a record with at least 142 women serving in Congress, women are still drastically underrepresented on the Hill. Moreover, less than one percent of elected officials in federal and state legislatures consist of counselors. This month, we want to inspire you to run and to continue pursuing leadership opportunities, because when our members are at the decision-making table, we can confidently continue to advance the counseling profession.

For these reasons, ACA supports She Should Run’s mission to build a pipeline of women who can bring a new perspective to determining the policies impacting our communities. There is a lot of work to do, but with more women and counselors like yourself committed to these changes, we know that equal representation is attainable.

This webinar will allow you to develop and retain women leaders by providing attendees with actionable strategies to take steps toward pursuing personal leadership and solving gender inequality. Congress, state legislatures, regulatory boards and commissions need more counselors!
