"Tell your Congressional members that it would be unacceptable to pass any healthcare legislation that would not require insurance companies to cover mental health services!"

The ACA Government Affairs team crafted a powerful Action Alert to make it easy for counselors to voice their concerns:

"As your constituent and a member of the American Counseling Association, I am contacting you today to vote NO on the 'American Health Care Act.' There is also another matter that I also find deeply troubling as a healthcare provider and as a Licensed Professional Counselor that I would like to bring to your attention. In an attempt to appease the Freedom Caucus, House leadership and the Trump Administration offered to strip the ten 'essential health benefits' that the Affordable Care Act required insurances companies, participating in the healthcare exchange, to offer as part of their coverage. One of these 'essential health benefits' would be the coverage of mental health services. If this were to happen our country would be turning our back on the 42.5 Million Americans that suffer from mental illnesses each year."
