Congress currently is dealing with several important issues impacting the counseling profession.  To help you better understand these issues and how to take action, ACA’s public policy office is hosting a 45 minute telephone conference call on Thursday, November 1st at 2:00 p.m. eastern time.  The teleconference will focus on:

  • Medicare coverage of LPCs,
  • Mental health parity, and
  • Education issues (e.g., reauthorization of NCLB, and funding).

The first thirty minutes will consist of a presentation by the PP&L staff, followed by 15 minutes (or more, if necessary) of Q and A.

As an active ACA member, I encourage you to participate in this call.  Our goal is to provide you with the necessary guidance and support you’ll need to promote these and other important issues affecting the counseling profession.  Grassroots advocacy by counselors will be needed on these issues, and we want to make sure everyone’s on the same page.

Please e-mail Christie Lum at clum@counseling.org by Friday October 26 to RSVP to participate in this call.  Materials consisting of a PowerPoint presentation and call-in instructions will be e-mailed to you prior to the date of the teleconference.

Thank you again for your continued efforts on behalf of the counseling profession, and I look forward to speaking with you on November 1st.

Sincerely,
Scott Barstow
Director of Public Policy and Legislation
American Counseling Association
