Dear ACA member,

The American Counseling Association has been given a unique opportunity to contribute to the revision of the Strong Interest Inventory®. For the past 80 years the Strong Interest Inventory® has served as the most respected and widely used career counseling tool in the world. This instrument allows people to see how similar they are to successfully employed adults in 122 occupations including firefighters, teachers, financial managers, etc.

In order to maintain its scientific soundness, the Strong Interest Inventory® is regularly revised to reflect changes in the occupational world and in our society. The current revision involves collecting data from previously established occupational groups using new samples, and creating new groups as well. We are hoping that you will agree to participate by taking the research version of the assessment. The questions are non-intrusive and focused on interests at work and leisure. In return for your participation, we will be happy to provide an aggregate report to the ACA containing information about the General Occupational Themes and Basic Interests of all counselors. Additionally, you will have access to your individual report upon completion of the online assessment. Under no circumstances will individual data be released to anyone other than the person who fills out the form. All other uses of the data will result in statistical summaries of groups of respondents.

If you are interested in being a part of this valuable research, please log on to this website where you can begin the registration process http://discovery.skillsone.com/slp.asp?adid=805&language=0. Your assistance will make it possible for us to compare people to successful counselors in future versions of the Strong Interest Inventory®, increasing visibility for the field and encouraging more people to consider counseling as a career option.

Thank you,
