ACA Foundation Grant Program

Overview

The American Counseling Association Foundation welcomes grant proposals from the American Counseling Association (ACA) members. Funding for each proposal is limited to $500. The grants are available for projects that support the mission of the American Counseling Association Foundation and the American Counseling Association.

Applicants must be an active member of ACA and currently working as a counselor, counselor educator, or enrolled as a graduate student. If a team of more than one applicant submits an application packet, at least one applicant must be an active ACA member upon submission of the application.

Submission Process

All applications must be submitted by completing the online ACAF Funding Request, which includes responding to a formal set of questions as well as a producing a preliminary budget for using the requested funds (Appendix 1). The deadline for applications is March 15, 2022.

Review of Application Procedures

Applications will be reviewed by a two-member panel with experience and expertise in counselor education and counseling. Awardees will have two weeks from receipt of their award notification to accept the award; otherwise, the funds will be diverted to other projects. Awardees that accept funding are expected to: (a) complete a year-end report (Appendix 2); (b) agree to be featured in the ACAF annual report; and (c) provide, if requested quotes, photos, or other documentation relevant to the funded project.

Funding Criteria

  • Funds are to be used exclusively for purchasing materials of an educational or therapeutic nature.
  • For graduate students, funds may be used to maintain enrollment in a graduate program (e.g., student fees, books).
  • No more than 10% of the total requested funds may be used to purchase food supplies, and all food supplies must be directly related to the specific aims of the proposed project.
  • Under no circumstances are funds to be used as salary or compensation for anyone connected with the project (including participants or their families).
